APARTMENT RULES + HELPFUL INFORMATION

The space is designed for couples- to relax, recharge and disconnect. Our apartment is not the right choice if you have small children, more than 3 people, or if you plan on coming to the beach to party. This is a space for you to come & relax! Because we want each guest to have a premier experience, and due to allergens, we can not allow pets in the space. We have added many personal elements for our guests to enjoy and won't tolerate an abuse of the space by having more than our guest limit (our parking is also very limited and only able to accommodate one guest vehicle). Upon special request, we will consider a 3rd person couch surfer at an additional $25 per night, but this is upon our discretion.  

When you Stay at Mom's, you'll be vacationing above our primary business which is located downstairs. You will need to climb one flight of stairs to reach the entry, so the apartment may not be suitable for elderly or handicapped persons. We offer smoothies, acai bowls, milkshakes & ice cream downstairs which means we are often busy in the Summer months. Our shop is open 9am to 10pm during the Summer and 9am to 6pm in the off season. We are always closed on Sundays & Mondays. During our busy Summer months the occasional light noise or bustling of activity outside may be expected. The interior spaces are separated by a noise & firewall barrier as in a condominium or hotel, so any sounds from below will be minimal and we've found the apartment to remain very quiet even when busy during the Summer.  

Here is a list of essential items you'll find upon check in. We've also included some items we think will make your stay more enjoyable. Some of them are upon request, so if you think you'll need them just let us know!

• space heater
• beach towels
• flashlight & binoculars 
• 2 beach chairs (upon request during off-season months.)
• Small cooler (upon request)
• beach umbrella (upon request)
• 2 beach cruiser bicycles (upon request)
• Netflix, Spotify & Wifi on both Smart TVs

This space we created is very dear to us and we want to share it with people who will respect it in the the same way they'd respect their own special place (or their mama's house!) There is a strict no smoking [of any kind] policy in the apartment or on the decks. Our outdoor spaces are for you to enjoy but we ask that you respect those public areas and clean up any trash you might make. With our primary, family oriented business being located downstairs we ask that guests respect the building and all outdoor premises. As such, we do have a few rules & requests we've set forth to ensure that each guest has an equally relaxing stay. We thank you in advance for your thoughtfulness and understanding in following these rules:

• We love our dog, but can not accommodate pets in the apartment. We aim to keep the space allergen free for all our potential guests. There will be a pet infraction fee of $400 if animals are brought without consent, or you may be asked to leave
• The apartment is not suitable for small children or infants and we ask that teenagers are never left unattended in the space 
• Absolutely NO SMOKING inside the apartment or on the front deck. The picnic tables out front would be the best place to inhale if you must
• No additional 3rd person guest without prior consent. For any approved couch surfer, there will be a fee of $25 per night. We reserve the right to change this fee to $50 per night per person if this rule is violated  
• No parties and no loud music, especially after 9pm (there is a town noise ordinance which applies to outdoor spaces as well)
• No sandy feet or surfboards inside the apartment (outdoor hose is available for rinsing feet)
• Please no high heels on wood floors
• As spray tans are highly staining, please refrain from using these products in our space! Christi next door at Sun Shack gives an excellent spray tan- give her a call! 
• No frying foods of any kind inside the apartment. The smell lingers and fire risk is too high. There are plenty of fried food options up & down the beach for any craving you may have. 
• Do not attempt to clean our high gloss cabinets, we will remove any smudges upon your checkout
• Please do not leave windows open when leaving the apartment, no matter how nice the weather. Our forecast can change in an instant on the Outer Banks. You will be held responsible for any damage caused from leaving windows open. 
• Please unplug any space heaters when leaving the apartment.
• Please clean up any spilled liquids on wood floors immediately
• Please do not wash our white towels, sheets or linen bed coverings with any other items. We will handle all laundry upon check out and have provided additional linens if needed during your stay.
• No more than our one car limit is allowed in the parking lot at any time. Additional guest vehicles will be asked to move. Please contact us beforehand with any questions regarding extra vehicles.
• Please direct all questions & concerns to Jessica or Derik via contact info provided. Our staff downstairs is not able to assist you with any situations which may arise. 

Checkout is at 11am. We hope you've enjoyed your stay and will visit again soon. Don't forget to sign our guest book before leaving! Upon checkout there are just a few simple requests we have made:

• Please check under the bedcovers for any lost socks or t-shirts. 
• Please leave dirty towels and/or beach towels on laundry room floor
• Please empty your trash (there is a dumpster at the edge of our parking lot). Leave recyclables in the brown paper bags provided; we have to drop these off at the recycling center. 
• Please wash your dishes and leave them to dry on one of our drying mats. We will put them away. 
• Please remove all leftovers, food or beverages from the refrigerator and take them with you or throw them out. 
• Please leave beach chairs & other beach items where you found them
• Please leave deadbolt key & all remotes (TV's and AC controller) on the coffee table.

Check our calendar for availability and current rates. We offer 5% off for stays of 7 or more days. We can sometimes accommodate one night stays during the off season or for special occasions, feel free to ask!
